UPDATE: The East Rochester Memorial Day Parade starts at 10:30 am on Saturday, and the staging area is at Debbie Supply, next to Piano Works. This means W. Commercial St will be closed from 10:15-10:45 am for the parade to kick off. I recommend planning to arrive AFTER 10:45, just so you don't get stuck in the parade prep. This is a drop in event, so there's no hurry to be there at 10:30. Best way to get to Piano Works that day is to take 490 and get off at the East Rochester exit. That will put you right on W Commercial Street, and you'll avoid any street closures on side streets along the parade route. Many apologies for inconveniences. This little town loves to celebrate! So on the upside, you'll get to see fire trucks and hear marching bands warming up and watch the cheerleaders and scouts as they get into formation! Fun times!! Any questions, feel free to call or text me at 585-734-2209.
* * * * * * * * * Join me for another Creative Open Space Saturday, May 27, 2023 10:30 am - 12:00 pm (drop in any time) inside Central Creatives Co-Work of Art The Piano Works, East Rochester, NY 14445 (directions below) Whether you're an artist, writer, performer, gardener, quilter, baker, doodler, musician - honestly, if you live and breathe, you create - I've love to have you join me for another Creative Open Space on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. My special guest co-host will be author and teaching artist Misty Yarnall. You'll find a variety of creative tools or prompts available if you'd like to doodle or write. There will be space available if you'd like to read your work, or play some acoustic music, or announce an upcoming event. This is an informal time to hang out, connect, and recharge your creative batteries. Coffee/tea/water and some snacks will be provided. (Let me know if you want to bring a snack to share!) There's no charge and you can drop in any time that morning. RSVP always welcome but not necessary. If you have any questions, contact me at (585) 734-2209 or [email protected]. (Put "Creative Open Space" in the subject line) On a personal note: when Misty and I talked about hosting this event, I didn't realize the day we ended up picking was two years, almost to the day, that I held my first creative gathering at my new studio space in Central Creatives. That morning in May 2021, a handful of creative friends navigated the East Rochester Memorial Day Parade to join me to celebrate the big (scary!) step I'd taken to rent studio space. We walked around and talked about all of the things we could do in this gorgeous space. Since then, we've painted and played and improvised and laughed and cried and made stuff and talked about making stuff and made lots of friends in that space. It's fitting that this event is being co-hosted by Misty Yarnall, an author and teaching artist I met during the 2022 Teaching Artist Institute of Rochester. She's incredibly talented, generous, community-minded, and a gift to the creative community. I hope you'll come and celebrate with me, and get to know this wonderful creative as she shares her talents. Happy creating!
