Welcome to the online, dust bunny-free cyber home of blogger and writer Joanne Brokaw, where nothing is organized, your cup of tea comes with a side of dog hair, and nobody cares if you track muddy paw prints across the kitchen floor. It's a mess .. but hey, life is messy business. That's what makes it fun!

Praise for "What The Dog Said":
“Life is funny and packed with poignant life lessons. So is Joanne Brokaw’s 'What the Dog Said'. This book reminds us that each day is an adventure filled with yucks of laughter and yucks of boogers (from dogs and kids). Tickle that funny bone; pluck those heart strings; read this book!"
Author of "Where Am I Wearing" and "Where Am I Eating"
“'What the Dog Said' [the title essay] made me cry...twice. Without a doubt the BEST dog story in short form I have ever read. Beautiful and powerful. Able to say with such few words what an entire novel by others could not."
Actor, Author, Screenwriter & Creator of Adventures in Odyssey character, Wooten Bassett
_“A delightfully fun read, filled with wit and a touch of wacky wisdom, Brokaw’s anecdotes reveal slices of daily life most of us experience but few of us have the spunk to express.”
Publisher, Christian Examiner Newspaper Group
“In this life-affirming collection of essays and articles, Joanne candidly reveals the wisdom gleaned and lessons learned that have set her on a path to joy and success... Sometimes sad, sometimes joyous, and sometimes just downright quirky, life is a true story...and no one can narrate it quite like Joanne.”
Executive Editor, Christian Voice Magazine

Snapshots from The Funny Farm
For many years, I covered entertainment, pop culture and religion for dozens of newspapers, magazines and websites in the U.S. and Canada. A few years ago, I detoured from that path to start studying and writing about dogs, history and my family tree.
Through it all, the thing that's tied my work together has been my dogs. Whether I've been writing about them, writing with them lying on my feet, listening to them bark while I pen my next column, or wandering around a cemetery with them while I try to come up with story ideas, just about everything I do is influenced by animals. Here are some snapshots of life with the pups.

Humor columnist and award-winning freelance writer Joanne Brokaw spends her days dreaming of things she’d like to do but probably never will - like swimming with dolphins, cleaning the attic, and someday overcoming the trauma of elementary school picture day. She lives in Western NY with two dogs, a cat, six chickens and one very patient husband. Read her blog at www.NotesFromTheFunnyFarm.com.
